How To Tie a Sarong - The Basics
There is no wrong way to tie a sarong. They can be wrapped, twisted, tucked, and draped. The easiest way to create your own style is to simply get a sarong and begin experimenting. There are a few basic styles you can try to get you started, but often the most creative and eye catching styles are often the ones you create by accident. Just in case you need somewhere to start, here are a few basic styles to kick start your experimenting.
Around the Waist
Tie the sarong around your waist - Simple. Wrap the sarong around your waist and tie a knot. You can also tuck in the tends into the sarong so it's not exposed.
Around the Chest
Tie the sarong around your chest - Wrap the sarong around your chest and then tie a knot at the end. Again, you can tuck it in, or leave it exposed. This style looks more like a dress and covers your body rather than the lower part of your body.
Around the Neck or Back
Tie the sarong around your neck - Tie two corners of a sarong into two separate knots. Wear the sarong around your back like a cape or blanket, and use the knots for support and something to hold on to. This is perfect when it gets a little chilly at the beach. Not cold enough to wear a sweater, but still windy/chilly enough for another thin layer :)
